In a world that hurts, what is wrong with healing?
In a culture where we are overstimulated and loaded with burdens beyond our control, how can anyone live a life of peace? There are so many layers of suffering and uncertainty that we war against each other just to feel like we are doing something.
Simultaneously, in this world, it is unpopular to be a Christian. It is well understood in our culture that your religious beliefs should be private. There are social consequences everywhere for breaking this rule, so Christians tend to stick together and share their faith only with each other. This has created a world of haves and have-nots, in a very serious matter that pertains to the heart of every human being. And so many are missing the boat.
But even though I know putting my faith out there is unpopular, as my wise pastor taught me recently - there is nothing wrong with bringing hope into a world that feels lost. Nothing to be ashamed or afraid of.
I couldn't agree more.
Instead of sharing another silly cat video, or an inflammatory political opinion, I can't find anything wrong with sharing a message that brings healing to the heart of a hurting soul.
People NEED to feel loved, to know they were created special and for a purpose. I have personally experienced and can testify that pursuing God has brought healing and peace into my life. Trusting God gives me the filter I need to interpret the world around me and live in peace anyway. Am I self righteous? No. I am just confident. Confident that God can help anyone with any crisis they face. That the story of Jesus isn't meant to be divisive, but inclusive. That true peace can be found in knowing this Jesus Christ person.
So, I will bring a message. I want to get these paintings off my foyer floor and in the way of people they can help. If you have a space to share my painting in your home or place of business, I will gladly bring it to rest there for a month.
If my work helps just one person. If something I paint brings a shred of hope into a hopeless situation. If one person can understand how much God loves them just a little bit more. Then by whatever means, as long as I can, I intend to bring to you what God has asked me to share.
Listen with your heart. This voice is not luring with a clickbait or yelling through a bullhorn. It is a still small voice that wants to speak into your heart. Let God speak into your life. Listen to his voice. You will hear him say... You are loved. Your are worthy. You are mine.
"Jesus said, 'Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.'” -Matthew 11:28-30
